On 3 and 4 April, the Lycée Français Jean Renoir de Munich hosted a rich and interactive training course for educational assistants (AED), underlining the importance of their role within the educational community.
As well as simply providing supervision, the PAs play a key role in supporting pupils and maintaining a calm school climate.
This course, run by Philippe Merleau EF2D History-Geography in Central and Eastern Europe ZoneThe aim of this project was to professionalise the practices of the AEDs, by offering them tools to strengthen their interpersonal and educational skills, while at the same time increasing their knowledge of the regulatory framework.
Using active, collaborative methods such as pedagogical speed dating, reflective writing, world café, role-playing and case analysis, participants were able to exchange ideas, reflect and enrich their professional practices.

The main objectives were :
Communicate effectively with students, teachers and families
Work in collaboration with all the educational teams
Understanding the specific role of the AED in the school's organisation chart
Develop the ability to listen and observe situations
Enforcing compliance the school's rules and values as part of an educational approach
Taking ownership the legal framework of the profession, including the duties of neutrality and reserve
Adapt the educational approach based on the specific needs of adolescents
Promote a high-quality school climate, preventing tension and unease
Become a member of the educational community, able to stand back and reflect.
