Since 2011 International Youth Games - JIJ - are organised alternately in France and abroad. Organised by young people, for young people, and supported by renowned ambassadors, the IYS is the only sporting and cultural event that puts young people from all over the world at the heart of the project. They are one of the major events on the sports and cultural calendars of the Union Nationale du Sport Scolaire (UNSS) and the Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Etranger (AEFE) and are an essential part of school sports diplomacy.

After Nice, Singapore, Rabat, Brussels and Marseille, Pau and the Béarn region welcomed the International Youth Days. from 12 to 16 June. For this 12th edition, 51 schools from 33 countries on 5 continents were involved. Sport, culture, heritage, sustainable development, encounters, sharing, the French language and European values all played their part in this unique educational event. Each school entered a mixed team of three girls and three boys.

6 establishments in the Central Europe Zone and Oriental were present in Béarn. For once, the ZECO and its students demonstrated their motivation, energy and desire to compete.
Out of 51 teams competing, the Lycée français Jean Renoir de Munich took second place on the podium. No fewer than 4 establishments in the zone finished in the top 15.

The pupils, accompanied by their teachers, had an incredible week. They were able to try their hand at coastal lifesaving and Basque pelota, compete in beach handball and 3×3 basketball matches, experience the thrills of rafting and, above all, rub shoulders with other students from 33 different countries. It's a safe bet that they will all return home with unforgettable images and memories.
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to you all!
