What should I do with an oxidised glass bottle that has no label? Is phenolphthalein really carcinogenic? What should be done with toxic waste? How can we ensure optimum safety for both staff and pupils? What is the relevant legislation?
These are all questions that can arise when you are in charge of or work in a science laboratory in a school.
The answers were given on 14 and 15 December at the Lycée français de Vienne during training Managing and running a science laboratory.
The trainees, supervised by Thibaut MonnetEF2D in Physics and Chemistry and Jean-Pierre PitiotThe students, who are EF2D in SVT, will learn how to manage risks, master techniques and maintain their laboratory.
Above all, this training course was an excellent opportunity for exchanges between the heads of the ZECO laboratories.
